    Dr. Mike Iosia joined the Department Health, Exercise Science and Secondary Education as an assistant professor of exercise physiology in the fall of 2007. Iosia came to Lee from Baylor University where he has been a post-doctoral fellow in the Exercise Sport Nutrition Laboratory and also taught graduate and undergraduate classes since 2005.

   

   Prior to pursuing his Ph.D. at Alabama, he spent nine and half years as a strength and conditioning coach at the NCAA Division IA level. Iosia had coaching stops at the University of Southern Mississippi, Auburn University, Tulane University and spent the last year of his Ph.D. studies as an intern in the Crimson Tide weight room.

   

   He is a member and certified collegiate strength and condition coach through the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCa) and National Strength Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCS). Iosia was asked to serve on the CSCCa’s Written Certification Executive Board of Directors in May of 2008. Iosia is also member of American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and the International Society of Sports Nutrition (ISSN).

   

   Iosia enjoys spending time with wife Kim their two boys, Isaac and Luke. They also run the Grace Foundation which provides memory boxes to families who experience a loss of a child through miscarriage, stillbirth or early infant death.
