Dr. Mark Bailey, the conductor of the Lee University Campus Choir and director of the Symphonic Band for the last 17 years, is an associate professor of music at Lee University.
Recognized beyond the Lee University campus, Dr. Bailey was elected as president of the Christian Instrumentalists and Directors Association in 2002. An associate professor at Lee University, he teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in music education, applied conducting, church music, and music theory.
Bailey holds the Doctorate in Music Education from the College Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati. Dr. Bailey combines his advanced training with some of the nation’s best conductors (Eugene Corporon, North Texas University, Myron Welch, University of Iowa, and Terrance Milligan, The University of Cincinnati) with his knowledge of how to utilize music for worship and praise to truly point the listener to Christ.
Bailey has many years of experience as a minister of music, having worked at the following churches as either a part time or full time minister of music: Philadelphia Church of God, Dayton Central Parkway Church of God in Ohio. North Chattanooga Ministry Center, the South Cleveland Church of God, and, for the past year, at Mt. Olive Central in Cleveland. Bailey also conducted the Lee University Chapel Choir in 2001/2002.
Dr. Bailey is married to Elizabeth and they have two children.
Their daughter, Layne, graduated from Lee University and is attending the Princeton Theological Seminary in Princeton, New Jersey to pursue a Master of Divinity degree. Jordan, thier son is a student at Walker Valley High School.
