Lisa Long joined the Lee University Department of Christian Ministries in the fall of 2006. She is an assistant professor of Christian Formation. She serves as the coordinator for the Children’s Ministry major. Her primary areas of research and teaching are in the disciplines of children’s ministry and Christian formation.
Lisa is an alumna of Lee, graduating in 2000 with a bachelor’s degree in Christian Ministries. She received her master’s degree from the Church of God Theological Seminary and her Ph.D. in Educational Studies from Talbot School of Theology, Biola University. Her dissertation was an exploratory study of Christian education and the Eucharist.
She has a long history of ministry in the local church, serving as youth pastor, Christian education pastor and children’s pastor in a number of churches in Tennessee. She has served as evangelist in the 2002 Tennessee Primary camp, a member of the Tennessee Camp Meeting Children’s Ministry Team, and a seminar speaker for the Knoxville Children’s Ministry Fellowship Children’s Ministry Conference.
Long is a member of a number of professional organizations. These include the National Children’s Leaders Association, National Association of Professors of Christian Education (NAPCE), and the Society for Pentecostal Studies (SPS). She serves on the board of the Society for Children's Spirituality: Christian Perspectives (SCSCP).
Lisa is marred to Larry and they have one son, Joshua. Joshua and his wife Sarah are currently serving in the Peace Corps. Lisa and Larry enjoy traveling, golfing, and boating. Additionally, Lisa enjoys reading and is particularly fond of mystery novels.
