Dr. Moodley came to Lee as a teaching intern in the Intercultural Studies Department in 1996. He subsequently joined the full-time faculty in 1999 as Assistant Professor.
Prior to his appointment at Lee, Moodley taught at Bethesda Bible College in Durban South Africa and held several pastorates and administrative positions in the Full Gospel Church of God in Southern Africa. He also founded and taught at Aletheia Bible College, a Bible training institute for lay pastors in Durban in the early 80’s.
Dr. Moodley has had the privilege of teaching across cultures around the world in Africa, Latin America, Asia, and Europe. His area of specialty is Contextual and Global Theologies. He currently teaches courses in Theology of Missions, History of Missions, World Religions, Eastern Religions and Philosophies, New Religious Movements and Crosscultural Hermeneutics.
His monograph, Shembe, Ancestors, and Christ: A Christological Inquiry with Missiological Implications was published by Pickwick Publications in September, 2008.
He holds membership with the American Society of Missiology, South African Missiological Society, International Association of Mission Studies, Evangelical Missiological Society, and the Society for Pentecostal Studies.
Dr. Moodley, an ordained bishop in the Church of God (Cleveland, Tennessee), is married to Flora, an alumna of Lee, and they have two daughters Debby Brown and Eleanor Moodley also alumnae of Lee. Debby is married to Jason Brown (Lee alumnus, 1997). The Moodleys have one granddaughter, Kjeersten, who is seven years old.
